    Authenticity

    • The design, the fabrics, and the know-how used to make Kalunza products are a mix of craftmanship traditions of South Africa. We apply the right touch of modernism to make our creations perfectly suitable for their usages in modern life. This authenticity is at the core of Kalunza’s DNA and make Kalunza’s products true original creations.

    Quality

    • At Kalunza, we do not compromise with quality! We believe that quality is not opposite to hand-made products. For us, “Made in Africa” means “Made with the best that Africa can offer”. All the artisans who work for Kalunza are selected for the high quality of their hand-made work and for their passion for their job. We know that Kalunza creations will be part of your day-to-day life and you deserve the best.

    Engagement

    • We could have decided to have all our products “Made in China” at a cheaper price. This would not have been aligned with our mission and ambition to promote the know-how, the tradition, and the creativity of African artisans. We want to make a positive contribution to develop a self-sustaining creative industry in Africa.

    WHY DO WE WORK WITH ARTISANS?

    At Kalunza, we have decided not to use any industrial process to make Kalunza’s creations. Instead, we work with a talented network of African artisans that handmake all Kalunza’s creations.

    Most of these artisans come from low-income communities and have joined Kalunza for their creative talent, their know-how and their ability to mix the tradition of African fabrics and the modern touch that is the signature of all Kalunza’s products.

    With Kalunza, we empower the artisans and provide them a sustainable activity which positively impacts their life and their family.
