Product Composition

Kalunza accessories are handmade with a combination of 2 fabrics: the Shweshwe and the Suede.

Shweshwe is the traditional fabric of South Africa. It is 100% made of cotton. It brings fun and colors to the creations. Shwewshe is easily recognizable by its geometric patterns printed on brightly colored fabrics. We recognize also Shwewshe for its thickness and rigidity linked with the use of starch in its making. Kalunza uses the ShweShwe made by the “3 Cats” brand for all its creations. “3 cats” is the leading and best manufacturer of Shwewshe. It is a pledge of the quality of our creations.

Suede is similar in appearance to velvet. Thanks to its very soft touch, it brings elegance and softness.

Care & Maintenance of the Shweshwe fabric

• Shweshwe is a 100 % cotton fabric.
• To maintain your Kalunza’s products as clean and bright as the first day, just wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
• You cannot wash your Kalunza product with water or in a washing machine because of the Suede part of it.
• Please note that the original Shweshwe is quite rigid because of the starch used during its manufacturing process.

Care & Maintenance of the Suede fabric

• You can waterproof the Suede part of your product using a protector spray. It will also help against moisture and keep it looking nice. You can spray the Suede regularly. It won’t damage the colour. 
• You can use a soft brush to remove dust and dirt. Always brush the Suede going into one direction.
• In case of minor stains, use a clean pencil eraser. Minors stains can also be wiped with a soft, damp cloth using mild soap with lukewarm water.
• Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a clean, soft cloth.
• Do not wash the Suede in a washing machine or in a big quantity of water. This would damage the Suede.
